WMUK’s Cara Lieurance is among the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo’s Community Arts Award recipients. The Arts Council has given the awards since 1985 "to recognize exceptional artists, arts organizations and arts supporters in the Kalamazoo area." Update: See a video of the Community Arts Awards ceremony on December 7th.

Lieurance was honored for her interviews on Let’s Hear It featuring local artists, launching the Celtic music program the Pure Drop on WMUK, as well as her performances as a musician. Read more about Lieurance and this year's other recipients.

All of this year's recipients will be honored at the 2021 Community Arts Awards Celebration on December 7th at the Shaw Theater on the Western Michigan University Campus.

Previous recipients of the Community Arts Award include now retired WMUK General Manager Garrard Macleod and WMUK Grassroots host Mark Sahlgren.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
