Southwest Michigan runners and their families had anxious moments after participating in Monday's Boston Marathon. At least three people have been reported dead and dozens were injured by explosions near the finish line.
Mlive Kalamazoo has a round of up its stories. One athlete says he doesn't think he will ever run in big city marathon again. 31 of the 38 runners from the Kalamazoo area who registered for the race finished before the explosions.
The Holland Sentinel reports that the family of Kathleen Wallis is grateful that she was able to finish the race about 15 minutes before the explosions.
The Herald-Palladium reports that a Dowagiac man is grateful that his daughter was slowed by injury. Ron Gunn says if his daughter Sarah, a graduate student at Tufts University, had run her usual time, she may have been at the finish line when the first explosion happened.
