A Kalamazoo School Board trustee is running for Michigan Attorney General
Mark Totten filed paper work for a possible run for Attorney General last month (MLive story). That allowed him to start raising money for a potential campaign. Monday, Totten officially kicked off his campaign for Attorney General with a twitter message directing people to his website. (Detroit Free Press story)
Democrats will pick their candidates for statewide office next year at the party convention in the summer. Candidates for Governor and United States Senator are selected by voters in the August primary. The parties pick candidates for Attorney General, Secretary of State, and other statewide offices during their convention.
Totten is currently a law professor at Michigan State University. He previously ran for the Democratic nomination for State Senate in 2010 to represent Kalamazoo County. Totten grew up in Kalamazoo, and also worked for the U.S. Justice Department in Washington D.C.
