Unemployment in both the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek labor markets was down over one-percent in May, compared to year ago levels.
Figures released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show that the jobless rate in the Kalamazoo labor market was 5.2% in May, down from 6.4% in Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties in May of 2014.
Unemployment in the Battle Creek labor market stood at 5.4% last month. The jobless rate in Calhoun County was 6.5% in May of last year.
The state says unemployment was down in all of the state’s major labor markets compared to year ago levels.
