A state lawmaker wants to bring back the state income tax deduction for families with children. Grand Rapids Democrat Winnie Brinks has sponsored a bill to restore the deduction that was eliminated six years ago. It allowed families to deduct $600 for each child under 18 living at home. (MLive)
Battle Creek police say a man found in the Kalamazoo River early Sunday morning had been missing for more than six weeks. Police identified the body as that of Cortez Lewis. He was last seen alive March 4th. (Battle Creek Enquirer)
