Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley is starting over on a petition drive to make Michigan’s Legislature part-time. The Clean Michigan Committee, launched by Calley, has revised its petition language and filed a new version with the Michigan Secretary of State. That nullifies thousands of signatures that the group claims have already been collected. (Detroit News)
Backers of a proposal to have a commission draw the boundaries for Michigan’s Congressional and state legislative districts have submitted proposed language to the state. The group Voters Not Politicians submitted its language to the Board of State Canvassers last week. They don't plan to begin collecting signatures until the board approves the petition’s form. More than 315-thousand signatures are needed to put the proposal before voters in 2018. (Gongwer News Service - subscription)
