Governor Rick Snyder to remove Jackson County’s Sheriff from office. MLive reports Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies will ask the city commission to make the formal request during Tuesday night’s meeting, unless Sheriff Stephen Rand resigns before then. Rand is the subject of a lawsuit by a Lieutenant in his department. Tommy Schuette calls Rand a multi-faceted bigot. Schuette’s attorney has released audio recordings in which Rand can be heard making offensive comments about minorities and women. Rand has apologized, but said he won’t resign. Jackson County’s Board approved a resolution last week calling for Rand to step down, they say the governor should act if Rand doesn’t resign. An order from the governor or a recall election could remove Rand from office.
