WestSouthwest: Protesting over immigration

Allison Colberg, Michigan United

Wendy Medrano says the nation's immigration policies fractured her family for many years.

The Western Michigan University student says that's why she felt it was important to go to Washington D.C. and get arrested during an immigration rally on Tuesday.

Medrano spoke with WMUK's Gordon Evans on Monday before leaving for the nation's capitol. Medrano's mother came to the United States from El Salvador, leaving other children behind. Medrano was born in the United States, but did not meet her siblings for many years.

Michigan United confirms that Medrano was arrested on Tuesday in Washington D.C.
