On this edition of WestSouthwest, we'll hear about a new proposal for the former Allied Paper Landfill and an update on the flu.

The city of Kalamazoo announced a new proposal in December for the Allied Paper Landfill site. It does not include complete removal of PCB contamination as elected leaders and others have called for. But Deputy Kalamazoo City Manager Jeff Chamberlain and Kalamazoo River Cleanup Coalition member Denise Keele say it still represents progress.

Both Borgess and Bronson Hospitals in Kalamazoo have announced some restrictions on visiting patients in an effort to limit the spread of flu. Borgess Infectious Disease Specialist David Davenport tells us why this is a bad year for the flu, and how people can prevent more infections.
