On WestSouthwest, we have two previously aired interviews. A Battle Creek man's efforts to raise awareness about chemotherapy treatment. And a Western Michigan University student who has patented a device to help people with speech impediments.

Battle Creek resident Ken Surprenant's wife died in 2012 . Kathryn Surprenant had a toxic reaction to drug known as 5-FU. Ken Surprenant wants to raise awareness of complications from chemotherapy. The interview originally aired in March.

Western Michigan University Daniel Floyd developed the SpeechMaster Pro to deal with his own speech impediment. Now he has a patent for the device. Floyd says he was inspired by the movie The Great Debaters. The interview originally aired in January.
