On WestSouthwest, another look at some of the numbers linked to the Kalamazoo Promise. And a political battle likely coming to Michigan over redistricting. 

    

Last week we heard from researchers at the Upjohn Institute for Employment Research about their study showing an increase in college graduation rates because of the Kalamazoo Promise. The Director of Western Michigan University's Walker Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations Tim Ready says while the Promise is helping, more must be done to address poverty and inequality. 

A recent U.S. Supreme Court decision says states can appoint an independent commission to draw boundaries for Congressional and State Legislative districts. Gongwer News Service Editor Zach Gorchow tells us that could set up a major political battle in Michigan.
