WestSouthwest December 10, 2015

Michael Nassaney

On this edition of WestSouthwest, people with ideas for social justice initiatives make their case over dinner. And a Western Michigan University Professor's new book on the history of the fur trade.

The next Urban Democracy Feast is being held December 19th at the Hispanic-American Council of Kalamazoo. In May, three projects were awarded money to launch new social justice projects, or help existing programs. Two of the winners from May, Jacob Pinney-Johnson and Majyck D, join WMUK's Gordon Evans to explain how the feast works.

Western Michigan University Anthropology Professor Michael Nassaeny is the author of the new book The Archeology of the North American Fur Trade. WMUK's Sehvilla Mann spoke with Nassaney about the history of the fur trade, and separating myth from fact.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
