We begin 2016 with two previously aired interviews with authors on WestSouthwest. Michelle Miller-Adams discusses her latest book on the Kalamazoo Promise. And former Western Michigan University quarterback Tim Hiller shares stories on and off the football field.
Michelle Miller-Adams has extensively researched the impact of the Kalamazoo Promise. Her second book on the scholarship program is called Promise Nation: Transforming Communities Through Place-Based Scholarships. The interview originally aired November 9th, shortly before PromiseNet was held in Kalamazoo. The event has been launched to allow people from across the country to share ideas and research on programs similar to the Promise.
Tim Hiller enjoyed a successful career as Western Michigan University's quarterback setting school records for yards, completions and touchdown passes. He was signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts, but he wasn't able to realize his dream of a career in the NFL. In his book Strive: Life is Short Pursue What Matters, Hiller shares how his football experience has guided his faith and life away from the field. The interview with Hiller originally aired November 5th.
