On WestSouthwest, a Republican running for state House in Van Buren and northwest Kalamazoo County. And we hear why there could be more cases of West Nile Virus this year.

Greg Kolich is running for the Republican nomination for state House in the 66th District. The seat representing Van Buren and northwest Kalamazoo County is open because Aric Nesbitt cannot run again because of term limits. Kolich spoke with WMUK's Gordon Evans about what he would do if elected. 

Michigan State University researchers say there could be more cases of West Nile Virus this year despite fewer mosquitos. WMUK's Rebecca Thiele spoke with Michigan State University Entomology Professor Ned Walker about this year's mosquito forecast. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
