On WestSouthwest, Bridge examines new ideas in policing that are about to be tried in Kalamazoo. And the Michigan Campaign Finance Network examines the state of the "money race" in this year's election.

The online news service Bridge recently went looking for ideas about policing. They found that Kalamazoo is about to implement a program called "Operation Ceasefire." Reporter Nancy Derringer joins us to discuss why Kalamazoo and other communities have turned to this new way of doing police work.

Money is flowing to several races in Michigan. The Michigan Campaign Finance Network tracks donations to candidates and ballot committees. Director Craig Mauger tells us which candidates are getting the most donations, and why even well-funded campaigns failed to get questions on this year's ballot.
