Western Michigan University has a new dean at its College of Arts and Sciences. The university announced this afternoon at Lee Honors College Dean Carla Koretsky will take over July 1st.
Koretsky is a professor of geosciences. She replaces interim dean Keith Hearit. He replaced former College of Arts and Sciences dean Alex Enyedi, who was removed from the job last year. That sparked protests by faculty members who said it was linked to Enyedi's efforts to increase pay for women. University officials Enyedi was removed because what they called "leadership issues."
Koretsky has been a professor at WMU since 2000. Her appointment as head of the College of Arts and Sciences must be approved by university trustees.
