Voters in Kalamazoo County will decide next month whether to renew the millage that pays for on-demand countywide transportation service. Metro Connect is operated by Metro Transit. Director Sean McBride says they offer about 175,000 dial-a-rides annually in the county and have just added runs to the V.A. Hospital in Battle Creek. He says more demand is expected.
McBride says the millage would cost the owner of a home with a market value of $200,000 about $30 a year.
City voters in Kalamazoo, Portage and Parchment will pick between Commission and Mayoral candidates this fall. Also, on the November 2nd ballot, Galesburg, Pavilion Township and the Galesburg-Augusta schools will each have funding issues to decide.
