One Man, One Fiddle: Dylan Foley To Perform In Richland

dylanfoleymusic.com

Dylan Foley, who grew up in the Hudson Valley region of New York, is a young and highly-regarded fiddler in the Irish tradition. For his midwest tour, Foley is touring solo: just himself and his fiddle. He says he got accustomed to playing solo at a regular gig he plays in the Bronx, where he now lives.

Foley credits Charlie Coen, an Irish priest who moved to New York in the 1950s, with bringing together young and old to play Irish tunes at a long-running session he attended as a boy. That experience, plus his mentorship with Mike McHale, and his fiddle teacher Rose Flanagan, put him on the path to becoming an Irish fiddler. To this day, Foley says he enjoys listening to the older generation play, as much as playing himself.

Dylan Foley performs at the Richland Community Hall on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 pm. Admission $15 cash at the door. His latest albums are Deliriously Happy and The New York Connection.
