Piano Master Pierre-Laurent Aimard Will Be Live From Berlin For Gilmore Recital

Marco Borggreve

Pierre-Laurent Aimard will play Beethoven's ultra-famous "Moonlight" and "Appassionata" sonatas in his Piano Masters recital for the Gilmore Keyboard Festival at 2 pm on Sunday.

If that sounds safe to you, there's a twist: Aimard, a champion of modern music, has programmed pieces by two 20th century modern masters to flow around the two familiar sonatas, refreshing our perspective on what makes music modern. Pierre Van Der Westhuizen, the executive director of the Festival and a pianist himself, talks to Cara Lieurance about how Aimard's passion for "troublemakers" makes this an unforgettable program.

Ticketholders will be able to stream the concert live at 2 pm Sunday, Nov 8. It will originate from Teldex Studio, Berlin.
