WMUK file

Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College are joining Kellogg Community College, Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Southwestern Michigan College in closing their campuses today, Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Initially, WMU and K-College had called for a three-hour delay in classes. But as the weather worsened this morning, they announced the closures during the 8 o'clock hour.

In a statement on its website, Western Michigan University says only essential and emergency services are open. Officials urge people to avoid traveling to campus so snow can be cleared.

Meanwhile at Kalamazoo College, only weather emergency designated employees should report at their scheduled time, according to its Facebook page. All day activities are cancelled. Upjohn Library Commons and the Fitness and Wellness Center are closed, but the Welles Dining Hall will be open.
