Ronda Stryker YWCA's "Woman of Achievement"

Kalamazoo YWCA

Ronda Stryker is the latest winner of the "Lifetime Woman of Achievement Award" by the the Kalamazoo YWCA. She'll receive the award at the Y's annual celebration on May 21st at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo.

The YWCA says the award is given each year "to a woman in the community who has demonstrated a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the well-being of the community, state, or nation, and has record of accomplishment, leadership, and positive role modeling as a volunteer or in their career".

The organization says Stryker was chosen for the honor, in part, because of her commitment to higher education, especially for women. Stryker co-chairs the Women's Education Coalition Fund that raised $1 million to help women who are unemployed, or under-employed, get more education. She's also need involved in groups working on health care issues that include HIV prevention and AIDS care.

Stryker serves on the Board of Directors at Stryker Corporation, a Kalamazoo-based manufacturer of health care equipment.
