Berrien County swine flu case reported

WMUK

State health officials are reporting a case of "swine flu" in southwest Michigan. The Community health and Agriculture departments say the case involves a child who had pigs on display at the Berrien County Youth Fair earlier this month.  The child was not hospitalized.

Officials say they're trying to reach other exhibitors to find out if they also came down with the H3N2v virus. It causes symptoms like those of the regular seasonal influenza, although some cases can be severe and even fatal. However, experts say this strain of the virus rarely spreads from person-to-person.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has more information about H3N2.
