Michigan Right to Life has endorsed the man looking to knock off Republican Congressman Justin Amash in this summer's primary.
The Gongwer News Service reports that anti-abortion group cited votes Amash cast against Right to Life positions. The group said that Ellis' response to the group's questionnaire showed he is eligible for their support. Amash's campaign defended his votes, and his record opposing abortion. Right to Life did not endorse Amash in 2012, but he did not face a primary challenge two years ago.
Meanwhile MLive reports that Amash is rejecting calls for a debate with Ellis, saying he isn't "a serious or credible candidate." Ellis called the refusal to debate, a disservice to the district's voters.
