First Case of Bubonic Plague Found in Michigan

WMUK

A Michigander has contracted the bubonic plague. According to a press release from the Michigan Department of Health, the Marquette County resident recently returned from Colorado where some cases of the plague had been reported.

Health officials say the individual is receiving treatment and is unlikely to transmit the disease through human contact. This is Michigan’s first case of the bubonic plague. Only 14 people in the country have had the disease this year.
