Battle Creek to Consider "Welcoming" Resolution

The Battle Creek City Commission will consider a resolution on diversity and openness this evening. Among other things, the resolution calls for the city to embrace those who arrive as migrants or immigrants. The resolution says welcoming new people is part of a tradition in Battle Creek that stretches back to the Underground Railroad. It is supported by a group called Welcoming America. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that if Battle Creek passes the resolution, the city will become a dues-paying member of the group.
