Vocal Quartet säje Brings Exquisite Harmonies To Jazz Masters Series

Lauren Desberg

At 8 pm in the WMU Dalton Center Recital Hall on Friday, Nov 5, the Grammy-nominated vocal quartet säje (rhymes with "beige") will perform a Jazz Masters concert. Formed in 2019 by Sara Gazarek, Amanda Taylor, Johnaye Kendrick, and Erin Bentlage, each was already a performer with an established solo career in singing, arranging, composing and teaching.   In the studio with Cara Lieurance, Kendrick and Bentlage talk about the magical weekend that got them started as a group.

Members of the jazz faculty at Western Michigan University will serve as the group's band, says faculty host Greg Jasperse. They will perform a mix of original songs and creative cover arrangements.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
