Governor Rick Snyder spent about an hour in front of an audience at WMU's Bernhard Center in Kalamazoo last night. It was the first of 10 “town hall”-style meetings he plans to hold this fall as part of his campaign for reelection.
Snyder, a Republican, answered questions about funding for education, roads, Right to Work and other issues.
Anyone could apply to attend. But the Snyder campaign reserved the right to reject applicants, and critics said that would lead to a “handpicked” audience that wouldn’t ask tough questions.
The governor did answer one person who criticized the Snyder administration’s record on transparency and its eventual support for Right-to-Work legislation.
