A top official with the state Department of Environmental Quality has been fired as part of the fallout of the Flint water crisis. Water quality chief Liane Shekter-Smith was fired just hours after a member of a state task force complained about foot dragging in some agencies when it comes to sharing information. Flint pediatrician Lawrence Reynolds said getting information can be “like pulling teeth.”
“If we don’t ask the questions, then we don’t get the answers, but there’s clearly information that’s being withheld," Reynolds says.
A statement from Snyder’s office says the governor is also frustrated by foot-dragging in state agencies. A Snyder spokesman says the governor will not tolerate state employees withholding information.
