Annie's Ghosts: A memoir of uncovered family secrets

The book Annie’s Ghosts was picked as this year’s the Great Michigan Read, which means it will be the subject of discussions around the state. Its author, Steve Luxenberg, will be at some of those events, including the one at Portage District Library on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Annie's Ghosts is about Luxenberg's discovery that his mother had a sister that she kept secret from her husband and children. Luxenberg's aunt, Annie, had mental disabilities and was housed at the well-known Eloise Psychiatric Hospital in Detroit.

Zinta Aistars is our resident book expert. She started interviewing authors and artists for our Arts & More program in 2011.
