With closely matched harmonies, masterful guitar work, and a list of original songs, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is a newly-established duo of long-term friends and band mates Phil Barry and Sarah Fuerst.
The two musicians, who are also members of the Corn Fed Girls, play live in WMUK's Takeda studio, previewing their upcoming album release event at Bell's Brewery. Most of the songs were written by Phil Barry, who first became known to west Michigan audiences as the lead guitarist of Knee Deep Shag. Sarah Fuerst started on stage as a bassist for the band Doxie, but was soon relied upon by her Corn Fed Girls band mates to write and sing harmony parts in addition to playing bass.
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot's newly-recorded EP, recorded in Kalamazoo at La Luna Recording & Sound, will be available to purchase at the free concert at Bell's Brewery. The event will also feature musician Jay Gavan and the band Less Is More.
