Kenny Werner, Pianist And Author, Headlines Western Jazz Fest

Jazz pianist Kenny Werner will headline concerts with the Western Jazz Quartet and the WMU Jazz Orchestra this weekend. Werner and WMU professor of jazz saxophone Andrew Rathbun joined Cara Lieurance for a conversation about his life as a composer, performer, and educator. Werner discusses the events that led to him writing his highly-regarded book for musicians, Effortless Mastery: Liberating the Master Musician Within

Werner will join Andrew Rathbun, Scott Cowan, Tom Knific and Keith Hall onstage tonight at 8 pm in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. On Saturday at 7:30 pm, he'll perform with the WMU Jazz Orchestra. Details at the Jazz Studies website.
