WSW: Documentary Examines Line 5 History And Controversy (Rebroadcast)

How big a threat is Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac to the Great Lakes? That’s the question that a documentary from Detroit Public Television attempted to answer.

Beneath the Surface: The Line 5 Pipeline in the Great Lakes examines the benefits and risks of the pipeline. A version of the interview with the Great Lakes Bureau Chief for Detroit Public Television, Mary Ellen Geist, originally aired in May.

Last week a new report spelled out the worst case scenario of an oil spill on the Great Lakes. Researchers from Michigan Technological University estimated that clean up costs could reach $2-billion.
