KIA Gets New Executive Director

Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts will soon have a new executive director. Belinda Ann Tate will take over on September 8th. She replaces former KIA director James Bridenstine, who is retiring after 24 years in the job.

For the last 15 years, Tate has run the Diggs Gallery at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. She’s credited with enlarging its collection significantly while increasing student involvement in the gallery.

A native of Winston-Salem, Tate studied art and art history at Wake Forest University, Yale, and at the Paul Mellon Centre in England. She also has experience in banking and finance.(P)
