Voters will not be considering whether to raise the state’s minimum wage in the election this November.
The Board of State Canvassers has ruled that a petition brought by the group Raise Michigan did not have enough valid signatures to be certified. The petition sought to raise the state’s minimum wage to ten dollars, ten cents an hour.
Gongwer News Service reports that the Board’s 3-1 bipartisan vote was “unexpected.” A group that opposes a minimum wage increase brought what it said were invalid signatures in the petition to the board’s attention.
