Republican Lawmaker From Battle Creek Hires Democrat Who Ran for Same Office

WMUK

Republican State Representative John Bizon has hired a Democrat who ran for the same office to work on his staff in Lansing.

Bizon won election in November to the 62nd district that includes Battle Creek. Terris Todd ran for the Democratic nomination but lost to Battle Creek City Commissioner Andy Helmboldt in the August primary.

Bizon tells the Gongwer News Service that he and Todd have the same beliefs in God, family and children. Bizon says he wants Todd, who is working as his legislative assistant, to help with efforts to reform education in the state.
