Jobless Rates Down in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek Labor Markets in August

Unemployment rates have dropped more than one-percentage point in both the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek labor markets over the last year.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budgetsays the jobless rate in the Kalamazoo-Portage labor market was 4.2% in August, down from 5.9% last year in Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties. The Battle Creek labor market’s unemployment rate was 4.6% last month. The jobless rate in Calhoun County was 6.1% in August of last year.
