Michigan Jobless Rate Beats National Average

MPRN

(MPRN-Lansing) Michigan’s official unemployment rate has dropped just slightly below the national average.

It’s the first time that’s happened in 15 years. That’s according to the state Bureau of Labor Market Information. The state’s monthly jobless rate fell to 5 percent. That’s point-one percent below the national rate. The state’s jobless rate was six-point-seven percent at this time last year.

Manufacturing, business services, and health care showed the most growth over the past year. There were declines in the number of jobs in information services and government over the same period.
