Flint Residents, National Groups File Federal Suit Over Flint Water Crisis

WMUK

Flint residents and national groups are suing city and state officials responsible for the Flint water crisis. Along with a Flint-based citizens group, The Natural Resources Defense Council, the ACLU of Michigan, and Concerned Pastors for Social Action filed suit in a federal court Wednesday.

The groups claim city and state officials violated the federal Safe Drinking Water Act by allowing corrosive water to leach lead into Flint’s tap water. According to a press release, the coalition wants responsible parties to follow federal testing standards, replace all the lead pipes in Flint, and fund health needs for residents with lead poisoning.
