State Infant Mortality Rate Down

State health officials say Michigan's infant mortality rate is down.

The state Department of Health and Human Servicesreleased a three-year infant mortality reduction plan Wednesday.

The department says the state's infant death rate has dropped to just under seven deaths for every thousand live births. However the death rates for black and Hispanic babies are at least twice as high as those for white infants.
