WSW: Granholm Focused On Electing Hillary Clinton, Not Her Own Future

Tom Arthur/Wikicommons

Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has emerged as one of the top campaign surrogates for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Granholm has been a Clinton supporter since her first presidential run in 2008.

Now, she’s been named a co-chair of the Clinton transition team. Granholm spoke with Michigan Public Radio’s state Capitol bureau chief, Rick Pluta, about her responsibilities and the presidential campaign.

Granholm says the job during a transition is to figure out how to fulfill the candidate’s agenda. That includes finding the right people to fill jobs in the administration.

For now, Granholm says the transition is a small part of the overall operation. She says most resources are being used on the campaign. But Granholm says after the election, then the transition will become the focus of whichever candidate wins.

Asked about her own future if Hillary Clinton is elected, Granholm says she’s not thinking about that right now. “We’ve got to get her elected.”
