New And Experienced Actors Invited to Enter Monologue Competition

Face Off Theatre

Starting Saturday Oct 2, Face Off Theatre Company will accept video submissions of 1-2 minute monologues from new and experienced actors in a friendly competitiondetermined by audience votes.

Competition chair Ynika Yuag tells Cara Lieurance  that the money raised by the votes (which cost $1/each) and the entrance fees ($10) will go toward continuing Face Off Theatre's mission of bringing stories of Black experiences to the stage in Kalamazoo.

Yuag says this is also a special opportunity for actors to receive feedback from a panel of theater professionals and educators which include Face Off founding member, actor and director Marissa Harrington. All of the monologues will be available for viewing when the submission period ends on Oct 9. Voting is set up as a donation through the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo website and will be open until Oct 15. Prizes of $100 will go to the top monologuists in the drama and comedy categories.
