Michael Zutis, who earned an undergraduate degree in composition in 2019 from Western Michigan University, spent the last two years writing and refining new works. He is a music minister at St. Thomas More Student Parish Church of Kalamazoo.

With support from a Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo KADI grant,  a concert of his music will be held at 7 pm on Saturday, Nov 20 at First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, with Silvia Roederer, professor emerita of Western, pianist Helen Lukan, and pianist Chris Grey each premiering one of Zutis's pieces. Cara Lieurance spoke with Zutis about each work on the program and the inspiration behind them.

Cara Lieurance covers local music with live morning interviews, and produces WMUK's Let's Hear It weekday mornings at 10 am Mon-Fri, showcasing local interviews and performances. She also produces The Pure Drop, an hour of Celtic music, with musician Dave Marlatt.
