Five finalists in the running for Kalamazoo City Manager

Assistant City Managers from Kalamazoo and Battle Creek are among those vying to replace retiring Kalamazoo City Manager Ken Collard. 

MLive Kalamazoo reports that the five finalists were chosen after a two-hour closed door meeting Monday with search firm Vorhees Associates. There's also a look at the resumes of each of the finalists. 

MLive Kalamazoo reporter Emily Monacelli told WMUK's Gordon Evans that the city commission is expected to select a candidate at their first meeting in October. 

The finalists include Jerome Kisscorni, assistant city manager and economic development director for the city of Kalamazoo. Assistant Battle Creek City Manager Jim Ritsema is also among the finalists. 

Kalamazoo Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley had applied for the job,but Hadley tells MLive that he withdrew from the search Monday morning. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
