Kalamazoo Public Schools are in the market for a new superintendent. Current Superintendent Michael Rice is leaving to become the state’s new superintendent of public instruction.

During a School Board meeting Thursday night, board President Patti Sholler-Barber said a search team made up of three trustees will look for a new superintendent. She says the team will decide if a search firm should be hired to recruit candidates. Scholler-Barber says the board wants applicants with experience in educational leadership. Rice starts his new job in Lansing in July.
