Candidates running for Kalamazoo City Commission answered questions on issues ranging from spraying for mosquitoes to prevent the spread of Eastern Equine Encephalitis to tax policy and pedestrian safety. Tuesday’s forum for city commission candidates was co-sponsored by WMUK, Western Michigan University’s Institute of Government and Politics and WMU WeVote.
Eight candidates are on the ballot, they are running for three seats. The top three finishers will serve four year terms on the city commission. Seven candidates attended the forum:

Andrew Argo is on the ballot, but was unable to attend the forum. He did pre-record a statement that was played for the audience.
A forum for candidates running for mayor of Kalamazoo will be held on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at 7:00p.m. in Schneider Hall at Western Michigan University.
