A rally is being held Wednesday calling on Western Michigan University to divest its endowment from fossil fuels. The Earth Day rally is being organized by Students for a Sustainable Earth.

It begins at noon outside the Bernhard Center. A news release says students are calling for the change over the next five years. They want Western’s investments shifted to more sustainable forms of energy.

Western recently received the Climate Leadership Award from Second Nature Nationally. Organizers of Wedneday’s rally say divestment of fossil fuel companies would be an example for universities across the country.
