(MPRN-Lansing) State lawmakers will spend the early part of this week digging into the Flint water crisis. A group of state lawmakers will tour Flint’s water treatment plant on Monday before holding a second hearing on the city’s water crisis in Lansing on Tuesday.
Michigan’s auditor general will return for a second round of questioning on a report that found faults with state environmental officials.
“It was clear at the end of the committee there was still questions that each of the committee members had. I want to make sure that we get those answered,”
said committee chair Sen. Jim Stamas (R-Midland). Stamas says the next step is to hold a hearing in Flint.
“I think the next logical step after the auditor general and the tour of Flint is to hold a hearing in Flint, but we’re still working on the final details of that,”
he said. Stamas says he hasn’t decided if he’ll call Gov. Rick Snyder to testify in front of the panel. The governor appeared last week before a congressional committee examining the Flint water crisis.
