Daniel Hsu To Play 'Pictures At An Exhibition' In Gilmore Young Artist Debut

Chris McGuire

Daniel Hsu began his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music when he was ten years old. Now eighteen and a Gilmore Young Artist, Hsu is a fast-rising, personable pianist who was recently named the First Prize winner at the 2015 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition.

Always close to his older musician siblings, Daniel adapted to the language of music very early. The family moved from the San Francisco area to Philadelphia so all three could study at Curtis - a first in the school's history. In a conversation with Cara Lieurance, he previews his debut recital program at the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.

Cara Lieurance is the local host of NPR's All Things Considered on 1021 WMUK and covers local arts & culture on Let's Hear It on 89.9 Classical WMUK weekday mornings at 10 - 11 am.
