Nebsitt Prepares for Energy Policy Changes

WMUK

State Representative AricNesbitt says he is reluctant to pursue more mandates for renewable energy.

The Lawton Republican serves as Chairman of the House Energy Committee and Republican Floor Leader. Nesbitt tells the GongwerNews Service that the state should ensure that it has energy capacity to serve the state.

Michigan currently requires utilities to generate 10 percent of their energy from renewable resources. Some environmental groups want to see that increased to 25 or 30-percent. The Energy Policy Committee is expected to work on major changes in the state’s energy law this year.
