Michigan Congresswoman Candice Miller says she’s not surprised that former State Representative Todd Courser is running again for his House seat.
Miller is not running for re-election next year. Her congressional district includes the state House district which had been represented by Courser. Miller called for Courser to resign shortly after it became public that he had an affair with state Representative Cindy Gamrat and had instructed his office staff to help cover it up. Miller tells the Gongwer News Service that if she were in the state House she would refuse to seat Courser, or vote to expel him if he wins a special election in his House district.
Both Courser and Gamrat are running for their old House seats. Gamrat was expelled by the House earlier this month. Courser resigned shortly before an expulsion vote was to be taken. A state Representative cannot be expelled twice for the same offense.
Miller spoke with Gongwer at Mackinac Island where several Presidential candidates addressed a Republican leadership conference.
